Darkest Dungeon 2 (19/03/2025)
So yesterday, darkest dungeon 2 had an update that introduced the catacombs and the abomination. And I gotta say that these 2 dlcs that they have released have been so good. Binding Blade gave us the oh so good Crusader and the funkily tricky Duelist, with a mini campaign about rescuing our beloved Reynauld. Inhuman Bondage doesn't have such a campaign but holy moly it is still so good, I've only had 2 runs with the Abomination but he feels so good to play as, I've decided to combo him with a plague doctor for maximum blight potential. I've been using his first unlockable path which has you keep him in his human form. Also, did I mention that you can transfer combo tokens now, what was once a fun but frustrating mechanic is so much better with the Abomination, with one of his skills when mastered, if you hit an enemy that has combo, you transfer that combo token to all of the enemies adjacent to them as well. This is great for making sure your Leper isn't gonna be missing your shots, or so you can abuse the enemies by trying to stunning blow them with Reynauld. So far the team I've been using has been [Plague Doctor - Abomination - Crusader - Leper]. You'd think the Leper would be my tank but he isn't, instead the Crusader is taking all the blows and Baldwin is just my big cleaver at the end of every turn. I had actually put off playing the game for ages, in anticipation for this DLC. But I'll be more than willing to admit that I wasn't expecting to love the Abomination as much as I am. Now to be fair, I haven't actually been using the "Abomination" part of his kit. Because untransformed Bigby is just so reliable right now. I've transformed him once and that was on an encounter with a Shambler (I gutted the run.) So I'll have to redo all those memories that were on my PD but that's fine. But I am more than happy with the Abomination and how he plays around the team. He feels strong but not overpowered or overtuned. All his attacks do reasonable damage, they have good team synergy generally. Decent self sustain provided you play around combos and such. Now, I haven't actually been able to go to the catacombs yet, but it looks fine. I hope they add the Ruins from Darkest Dungeon 1 into a region along with the Crimson Court. Now, I think both of these might already be in Kingdoms (I might be wrong) but I think it would be a fun addition regardless. Because right now, doing all the same regions every run can feel a little samey and even though there's already a decent amount of variation. I still think it would be neat to have more. Once again, Red Hook have knocked it out of the park. Now if only they added the Bounty Hunter as a normal character on Confessions... (also add Musketeer/Arbalast).
